The Queen of Hearts Development Initiative
The Queen of Hearts development Initiative is a benevolent project established aimed at reaching out to the less-endowed both locally and internationally. Each year, the winner of The Queen of Hearts beauty contest will act as a goodwill ambassador working with a sector she wishes to develop.
Queen and the Community
The winner is welcome to choose her target charity and objective freely. The reigning Queen will be the face of the project and coordinate the campaign together with the contest organisers. The Queen of Hearts Development Initiative can cover anything from development cooperation to awareness-raising and capacity-building.
The Queen of Hearts Development Initiative will offer the winner valuable experience in project management. Through coordination tasks, the winner will learn about project management and be empowered to empower others.
Even though a new project as taken on annually, the partnerships established will not be set aside. Instead, the orientation is to form lasting relationships and network with actors in different sectors of the society. As a member of the Royal Family, each winner will continue to work with her project even after her reign as The Queen of Hearts.
The target charity for the year 2009 is Hiari Orphanage Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Queen of Hearts Development Initiative is working towards providing the orphanage with beds and mosquito nets to fight malaria.
